ORIENTATION for New Ministers
STEP #1: UNDERSTAND THE NAZARENE MINISTRY JOURNEY
The goal of orientation Step #1 is to be able to overview the Nazarene Ministry Journey explained on our Board of Ministry website to another leader. This includes 1) Understanding the 5 components of Ministerial Preparation, and 2) the location and contents of the Ministerial Licensing page on the CCD website
Another goal in step #1 is to understand how our Board of Ministry partners with you in using our 3-fold focus of ministry development — academic content, spiritual formation and ministry skills.
STEP #2: UNDERSTAND CoRE / DISTRICT PARTNERSHIP
The goal of orientation Step #2 is to be able to explain what the CoRe (Cycle of Resurgence) is. It is not just a church revitalizing program or Board of Ministry program. It is first and foremost a “way of thinking,” focused on changing local church culture and improving our district culture. It is aimed to achieve movement, helping churches come together in unity, bless their community, bring people to Jesus and become Christlike disciples.

STEP #3: EXPECTATIONS OF A CCD MINISTER
The goal of orientation Step #3 is to understand the “operational minimums” required of ministers when they become pastors on the Chicago Central District. These include principles/practices, District Assembly, District Events and Ministerial Training that is on-going.
All churches are expected to conduct the Annual Planning Session, create a Ministry Plan and complete an Annual Calendar and Budget.
Churches with buildings are required to maintain adequate insurance.
Connection through encouragement, prayer calls, etc.
All ministers who are licensed and ordained ministers on the CCD are expected to participate in some way, serving on the District.
The basic pastoral duties of the Nazarene Manual are to be fulfilled as outlined in paragraph 513-522.
