DEVELOPING LEADERS

Developing clergy and lay leaders is essential to the health and mission of the Church. When we invest in equipping individuals to serve, lead, and disciple others, we multiply our impact. By identifying, mentoring, and empowering leaders at every level, we cultivate a culture where gifts are discovered, callings are affirmed, and the Church is prepared for a vibrant future.

MINISTERIAL LICENSING

The Chicago Central District walks alongside those called to ministry, offering a clear, accountable, and spiritually formative path toward local licensing, district licensing, and ordination.

Through mentoring, education, and partnership with local and district leaders, candidates grow in theology, pastoral skills, and personal holiness while preparing for lifelong ministry.

LAY
MINISTRY

We believe every Christian is called to live as a minister of Christ, seeking God’s direction for how to serve. For those who feel led to a specialized ministry as a layperson, the Church of the Nazarene offers a Certificate of Lay Ministry given by a local church board. This certificate affirms your calling, your commitment to a community of believers, and your dedication to growing in your chosen area of ministry.

CLERGY CONNECTION GROUPS

The ministry journey was not meant to be walked alone! We are better together, and clergy connection groups provide a space to counter the isolation many pastors feel.

Whether you are looking to grow in a ministry skill or are simply looking for a place to meet with other ministers for prayer and encouragement, we have a group for you!

DISCOVERY WEEKEND

Discovery Weekend is a time of encouragement and growth for those on the path toward ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. It offers space to reflect, learn, and deepen one’s calling while connecting with others in ministry.

The weekend focuses on spiritual formation, emotional and relational health, and developing a deeper understanding of God’s call to ministry. Participants also explore essential ministerial skills, ongoing development for effective service, and the expectations for those called to ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.
