The purpose of these lectures is to communicate to the University community the doctrine of holiness in a manner that is relevant to the issues of contemporary society. It is to motivate the listener to respond to the call of our holy God. This year's speakers will be Dr. Troy Martin and Dr. Ron Benefiel. Dr. Martin is the chairman of the Religious Studies program at St. Xavier University. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and has been a local church pastor. His area of specialization is Biblical studies, with expertise in the New Testament. Dr. Martin will be speaking in chapel on the topic of "The Physiology of Holiness." Dr. Ron Benefiel is the President of Nazarene Theological Seminary. He has served as secretary for the Commission on Education, as a member of the H.F. Reynolds Institute (a denominational think tank), and the International Board of Education. He will be speaking after chapels and on Wednesday afternoon on the topic "Toward a Rediscovery of a Core Missional and Theological Identity of the Church of the Nazarene: A Sociological Analysis." All pastors within the ONU educational zone are invited to attend these lectures at no charge, while earning .4 - .7 CEU credits.
